Balikesir; from west to Dardanelles and Aegean Sea; It is a strategic city with a coast to the Bosphorus and Marmara Sea from the north. For this reason, it has become one of the important crossroads of migration routes that contribute to Turkey’s cultural accumulation of thousands of years.
Balıkesir is in the northwest of Anatolia. Although most of it is located in Southern Marmara, it has lands in both Marmara and Aegean Regions. Bursa, Kütahya to the east; Izmir, Manisa to the south; It is surrounded by the Aegean Sea, Çanakkale in the west and the Marmara Sea in the north. Located between the Marmara and Aegean Regions together with Çanakkale, TR22 forms the Southern Marmara Region.

The northernmost point of the province is 175 kilometers from the southern one, and the easternmost point is 210 kilometers from the western one. The altitude of the city center is 130 meters.
